Custom custom home with short-term rental in basement

Challenge

Our clients were quickly outgrowing their 1910 bungalow. The family of four decided it was time to build their forever home and they chose SQFT studios as their design partner.

Solution

With aging (and ailing) grandparents, the plan included an ADA-accessible ADU which was constructed first. The family lived in the ADU while their bungalow was deconstructed and then their dream home was constructed. Finally, the grandparents took up residence in the backyard and they all lived happily ever after. The cherry on top is the basement below which is a short-term rental.
